AI transformation with Lancaster University
As part of our process improvement in maintaining the highest product quality, we embarked on a journey with Muhommad Ridhwan Jamsa from Lancaster University. Ridhwan is studying for his Masters in Computer Science with Industrial Experience (MSCI). As part of the course, he needed to work with industry in developing himself for the current environment requirements. He has been with ROSS Pneumatrol for the past 10 weeks working closely with all relevant departments to develop an AI detection tool that is aimed at further improving our product validation processes in our Lancashire factory. We want to thank both Ridhwan and Lancaster University for this opportunity to explore new possibilities for further process improvement. Jamie Dummer - “As a result of Ridhwan’s work we have proven the concept and have a functioning prototype tool. This gives us a great foundation on which to build.” We hope you enjoy your track day, it was well-deserved!
Brother Japan visits ROSS Pneumatrol
It has been a busy start to the year for everyone at ROSS Pneumatrol. Our Operations Manager, Tommy Cooney and his team have been ensuring their new Brother F600 with Cubebox automation was setup and running. As this is a first for this combination of machines to be setup for Stainless Steel applications in the United Kingdom. Our supplier White House Machine Tools, a dealer for Brother had assisted us during this project for a successful installation. We were happy to host the Brother global team who wanted to see how their technology was helping us produce high quality solenoid valves and the overall benefit of their machinary to us as a business.
Cleaner and Greener packaging...
As part of our continuous improvement steps, we looked at how to improve our carbon footprint. One step identified was replacing all plastic packaging with recyclable materials. Partnering with a supplier that would help us introduce this successfully was important. We were happy with the service received from www.belmontpackaging.co.uk. We are happy to say we will no longer be using plastic in our packaging but instead use packaging made from an FSC-certified board which is made from a minimum of 70% recycled paper from sustainable forests and obviously they are all 100% recyclable. Further to the above we have also ensured the tape we use is a paper-based product that is biodegradable. We hope all our partners see the value in making all the changes possible to ensure a greener and cleaner future for generations to come.
Supporting our local community
At ROSS Pneumatrol Ltd we understand the importance of supporting our local community. This year our team agreed that we wanted to do something different than just our usual financial donation. Therefore we are proud to announce that we organised a Volunteer Day and we sent three of our Senior Leadership team to spend the day helping and supporting the team at The Blackburn Foodbank. Supported by the Trussel Trust and local donations from Schools, Businesses, Supermarkets and the General Public, the team at The Blackburn Foodbank provides a welcoming & fantastic service to local people and families. We sent Jamie, Tommy and Zoe to get ‘hands-on’ and help prepare food parcels ready for collection. During their time at The Blackburn Foodbank, our team learned how valuable contributions are, these contributions are reaching directly to local people in need. Following our team's experience at The Blackburn Foodbank our Senior Management team has agreed that we will repeat our Volunteer days in 2024 and open up the opportunity for some of our employees to go down and get involved. As our team has returned with valuable ideas then next we will start to organise our in-house collection led by ROSS Pneumatrol Employees. The contributions collected will then be topped up by a financial contribution from ROSS Pneumatol which we look forward to passing on to the team at The Blackburn Foodbank. If any other local people or businesses would like to drop off a food-based donation then please pop into our Main Reception & we will be more than happy to deliver it to the team at The Blackburn Foodbank for you. We look forward to keeping everyone updated with our next steps …
